“We thinking about droppin’ a tape and then droppin’ an album,” Pill says…
Pill’s label situation with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group might’ve been non-existent, but what is happening, according to the Atlanta rapper, is a collaboration with Big Boi and Killer Mike.
“We working,” Pill told MTV RapFix Live. “We thinking about dropping a tape, honestly ’cause me and Big and all us we done did records already. We thinking about droppin’ a tape and then droppin’ an album.”
In February 2011, Killer Mike revealed to MTV that he, Big Boi and Pill were forming a still-unnamed group. And while talks about the trio had subdued since then, Pill says they are close to making it a reality.
“We already workin’, we getting’ it in,” he said. “It’s a full-time grind. Them two are rap greats and for them two to actually want to do a project with me, it’s unbelievable.
“For other people to try to think that I’m not lyrical enough or I’m not as good a rapper — you got guys that everybody looks up to as rappers doin’ a project with me,” he continued. “So you know I’m just ready for that sh– to actually take off so we can show people what hip-hop look like in the flesh.”
Earlier this week, Pill revealed that he was never officially signed to MMG. Just days before that, he went on a Twitter rant about Maybach’s parent label, Warner Bros., to which he is signed to, for not giving him the proper backing. He is now looking to be released from Warner.
Pill will be dropping his mixtape, The Epidemic, in coming weeks.
